Battery Replacement

Is your laptop not making it through the day on a single charge like it used to? Or maybe it won’t charge at all, or it’s showing an error saying the battery needs replacing? These are all signs of a worn-out battery — a super common issue, especially on laptops that are a few years old.

We can run a quick battery diagnostic to check its current health and confirm whether a replacement is the right fix. In most cases, a fresh battery will restore your laptop’s original runtime and feel brand new. Replacements typically take a day or two, depending on parts availability.

We also handle swollen or puffed-up batteries — which is important to take care of quickly, as a swollen battery can damage surrounding components (and in rare cases, pose a safety risk). We’ll swap it out safely and responsibly recycle the old one.

Signs You Need a Laptop Battery Replacement

  • Your laptop dies much sooner than it used to on a full charge
  • The battery won’t charge above a certain percentage
  • Windows or macOS is showing a “replace battery” warning
  • The battery is physically swollen or the laptop bottom is bulging
  • Your laptop only works when plugged in

What to Expect at The Computer Cellar

We start with a free battery health diagnostic so you know exactly what’s going on before committing to anything. If a replacement is the right call, we’ll source the correct battery for your specific make and model — we don’t use cheap generic cells. Most replacements are completed in one to two days, and we stand behind our work.

A Note on Swollen Batteries

A swollen or puffed battery is a safety issue — don’t ignore it. The expanding cells can press against your trackpad, screen, or other components and cause damage. It can also, in rare cases, be a fire hazard. If your laptop feels warped or won’t sit flat, bring it in right away and we’ll take care of it safely.
