So you dropped your MacBook and now it won’t boot. Or your iMac is clicking and buzzing ominously. Or, god forbid, you spilled something on it.
Hey, these things happen. We won’t judge. But now you have a choice to make. You can take it to a local Apple Authorized Service center, but be ready to pull out your wallet. You’re paying for Apple Certified technicians to install Apple approved parts in an Apple-controlled facility, and every step of the way makes the prices go higher and higher. Apple maintains tight control via this expensive hierarchy. If you bring a serious problem to the Apple store, you can expect to be quoted $450+ for many repairs.
At The Computer Cellar, our technicians may not be Apple Certified, but they know what they’re working with. Experience is the best teacher, and our team has plenty of experience finding the most reasonable (and reasonably priced!) repair solutions for your malfunctioning iProduct – and we do it with a smile and sense of humor you won’t get from most “geeks” or “geniuses”. If there’s something we can’t do, we’ll make recommendations of who probably can.
If you’re outside your AppleCare time limit, in need of repair or an upgrade, or want to optimize your Mac’s performance, The Computer Cellar is ready to get you back where you want to be – on your perfectly functioning Apple device!
And the best thing? We can do it for so much cheaper than the service centers, meaning you keep money in your pocket to save for the next new Apple product.
Check out some of the services we provide that can save you money:
Hard Drive Data Recovery
We’ll recover and restore data from a hard drive that has failed in certain ways, but still retains readable data. If we can’t do it, we know forensic data recovery teams who can!
Hard Drive Replacement
Hard drive replacements and upgrades – most helpful when you start seeing the spinning wheel all the time, absolutely necessary if you’re getting the flashing question-mark folder at startup. Maintain all of your files, music, photos and apps using Migration Assistant or Time Machine recovery.
Hard Drive Cable Replacement
The thin ribbon cables that connect the hard drive to the logic board on 2009-2012 MacBook Pros are known to fail unexpectedly and suddenly after a few years. We stock a variety of replacement cables that can usually be installed while you wait. (Note that a faulty cable can also damage the hard drive itself, which can take longer to replace.)
Virus/Malware Removal & Repair
While this is somewhat less common with Macs, it can happen! If your computer has been infected with a virus, spyware, or malware, we can diagnose and repair it for you.
Operating System Installation & Upgrades
Want to move up to the latest version of macOS, Mojave? Using the latest version of MacOS, regardless of your Mac’s age, can help keep you running smoothly and with the most current software available. And even if El Capitan is the limit, we can help advise you and perform the upgrade, making the transition painless.
Experiencing strange bugs or slowdowns that you can’t explain? We’ll perform a system diagnostic to determine the cause and best solution.
LCD Display Replacement
Replacing the LCD or glass panel in MacBook Pro and Retina models is an arduous task. We’ve partnered with an expert 3rd party provider to make these repairs. Our partner warranties their work for a full year, and do a beautiful job every time.
MagSafe power connector replacement
Get charged up! If your MacBook isn’t charging properly, it may be a problem with the microcontroller on the MagSafe port, which we can replace!
Some current MacBook models require the whole palmrest assembly to be swapped. Most MacBook Pro and Air models require the removal and replacement of nearly a hundred tiny screws. Fret not – we can handle it!
No need for expensive “Mac” memory – Many pre-2012 Macs are the same as any other computer in that they can accept inexpensive DDR3 RAM. We can help you find the proper modules and install them.
